music...whose touring this summer?
76music, and bands that (we know) are touring this Spring and Summer
I am WAY into live music, music festivals and live shows of any and all kinds. I want to share some news that I have found out about some bands that are going to be doing a spring/summer tour. That is something I like to hear! Woohoo!!
So far we have heard that the The Dead are going to tour again, they have not done so since 2004. They will start their tour off on April 12th in Greensboro,NC. and they will end their tour on May 10th in Mountain View,CA at Shoreline Ampitheater. This is already making a lot of people happy, and that haven't even begun yet! I think this will be a good tour to see, they have a lot of energy behind them this time around and they are genuinely happy to be playing music together again.
Another tour that has popped up is Phish. They will start off on June 6th, in Wantagh,NY at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater. These guys haven't been on the road since 2004 as well. People are really buzzing about this one. They will end their mini tour on June 21 in East Troy WI, at the Alpine Valley Music Theater. They have a lot of fans out here in the West, I bet people are really hoping for a tour out this way. And what about the South....
No Doubt will be touring this Summer as well. They are happy to all be together again, it said on their site. I don't see any dates or lacations yet, but you can be sure they will be in the news, since this is big for them.
There is one tour that I will be sure to catch a show and that is the Les Claypool tour called "The Oddity Faire- A Mutated Mini Festles Claypool" This one will surely be amazing! Great music, because he is touring with Saul Williams(fabulous!), the Yard Dogs Road Show(if you don't know them, look them up!!), Devotchka, a band out of Colorado and Mutaytor(another amazing act). I can't wait to see this whole show. Everything from music, mayhem, circus, and a bit of a "freak" show too I imagine. That tour starts on March 9th, in San Diego, CA at The House Of Blues. The tour ends up in New York City at Terminal 5 on March 28th. Very small, but jam packed with pure Claypool craziness! I can't wait!!
Widespread Panic I know will be touring again, they are relentless in touring. That is one reason I really like them. They are the one band that has stayed on the road (almost) conseculatively for 20 years. Their newest member Jimmy Herring really adds to the band. He is the missing piece to the Panic puzzle as far as I am concerned. After their founder and lead guitarist passed on a few years back(Michael Houser), they had a few bumps in their road. But now they have found what they (and the fans) were looking for... Thanks Jimmy! They have announced that they will be headlining the 10,000 Lakes Festival playing 2 nights on July 22nd and again on July 24th. Also confirmed on the 10klf lineup, is Dave Matthews Band and Wilco. Pretty exciting. I haven't got to go to this one yet but it's on my list. I will try to go this summer since Panic is playing on my B-day!
I could keep writing about Spring and Summer tours all day, It's a passion of mine, as I live for LIVE MUSIC!! I love the energy, the people you meet and the exercise you get just by dancing so hard. Spending an afternoon in the sunshine, in front of a good band, how can anything possibly be better?
As I hear more and feel the need to spill out more Festival info,I will do so.
Keep reading and go see LIVE MUSIC!!!
